Dr. Faith Doughty is a licensed staff psychologist at CBC where she conducts individual, family, and group therapy with children, adolescents, and adults. Dr. Doughty works intimately with teams across the country to be trained in and implement dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) within their various settings, from public schools and residential treatment centers.
Dr. Doughty is intensively trained in both cognitive-behavior therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) and applies these evidence-based interventions for a range of disorders across the anxiety and mood disorder spectrums, including Borderline Personality Disorder. Dr. Doughty has experience implementing these interventions in school-based, community mental health, and outpatient settings. At CBC, she is part of a comprehensive DBT treatment program, working with both individual clients and leading DBT skills groups. She is also a member of the Trauma Treatment Program at CBC and provides treatment to individuals struggling from PTSD and other trauma-related difficulties.
Dr. Doughty earned her Master’s and Doctor of Psychology degrees in School Psychology from St. John’s University. While pursuing her degree, Dr. Doughty received specialized clinical training in BASICS (Brief Alcohol Screening and Intervention for College Students) and provided this intervention to students struggling with alcohol and marijuana use and/or abuse. Throughout her career, Dr. Doughty has also received extensive training in cross-battery assessment and Specific Learning Disability (SLD) identification. She has worked as an evaluator in community, private, and school settings conducting individualized assessments for child, adolescent, and adult clients. As part of her pre-doctoral internship at CBC, Dr. Doughty was also trained in comprehensive neuropsychological testing and executive functioning skills training.
Prior to her work at CBC, Dr. Doughty completed an externship within Oceanside Union Free School District in Long Island, NY where she conducted comprehensive cognitive, social-emotional, and educational assessments, completed FBAs/BIPs, provided school-based counseling services and presented findings at Committee on Special Education (CSE) meetings.
