Senior Director of Young Adult Programs

Suzanne Davino, Ph.D., Senior Director of DBT Intensive Programs at CBC, is a full-time licensed clinical psychologist and provides CBT and DBT through individual, family, couple, and group modalities to clients of all ages. Prior to joining CBC, Dr. Davino was the Director of the Partial Hospitalization Programs at Four Winds Hospital where she ran DBT-based day programs for children, adolescents, and adults for over a decade.

Dr. Davino completed her B.A. in psychology at SUNY Cortland, and her M.A. and Ph.D. in clinical psychology at Binghamton University where she received a strong foundation in learning theory and specialized training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for anxiety, mood disorders, and stress. She completed her doctoral internship at the VA Medical Center in Syracuse, NY. Throughout her training years, Dr. Davino specialized in Cognitive Behavior Therapy and health-related cognitive psychology. She also worked as assistant supervisor of the Laboratory of Human Chronobiology at Weill Cornell Medical College in White Plains, NY, and conducted clinical research focused on sleep, nutrition, and coping with medical disorders.

Dr. Davino is intensively trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy since 2008, with extensive experience adapting DBT to short-term, intensive settings. Dr. Davino’s expertise is in applying emotion regulation therapy to individuals of all ages who demonstrate multi-problem behaviors, as well as those who have borderline personality disorder and who engage in suicidal and self-injurious behaviors. She also enjoys working with couples and families and has expertise in specialized training parent to manage and support their children, teens or young adults who struggle with emotional and behavioral difficulties. Additionally, Dr. Davino has received advanced training in DBT with patients suffering from internalized symptoms and from co-occurring disorders.

Dr. Davino has presented research at conferences on a variety of topics including visual imagery, sleep disorders, intelligence testing, and the relationship between mindfulness and rumination. Dr. Davino is an active member of the Association for Cognitive and Behavioral Therapies and a Founding Member of the New York City Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Association.
