Dr. Tali Wigod is a staff psychologist and research director at CBC, where she works full-time with children, adolescents, adults, and families. She has extensive training in the implementation of evidenced based treatments for anxiety, depression, emotion dysregulation, self-injury, suicidality, behavioral difficulties, and trauma. Dr. Wigod has training in Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) and completed an intensive training program in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). In her role as the Research Coordinator, she coordinates a wide range of research activities focusing on dissemination, implementation science, and prevention research.
Dr. Wigod earned her bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Economics from Barnard College at Columbia University. She received her Master’s and Doctoral degrees in Clinical Psychology from LIU-Post. For her doctoral dissertation, she compared parent acceptability and preference of two models of treatment targeting early child behavioral problems.
Dr. Wigod completed her pre-doctoral internship at Trinitas Regional Medical Center, where she received training in DBT and Prolonged Exposure. Dr. Wigod participated in both adult and adolescent DBT programs. Dr. Wigod also worked on the child and adolescent inpatient unit, where she received training in the treatment of serious mental illness. Dr. Wigod also participated in an assessment rotation, where she provided psychoeducational testing to adults, adolescents and children.
Dr. Wigod has extensive experience working with parents of young children and treating children and adolescents with a wide range of presenting problems. Prior to internship, Dr. Wigod received training at NYU Child Study Center, where she provided individual and group psychotherapy for children with Selective Mutism, disruptive behavior disorders, and other mood and anxiety related disorders and conducted psychoeducational assessments. She received training in Game Based-CBT and Organizational Skills Training from the respective treatment developers. She also completed an externship at the Children’s Hospital at New York Presbyterian/Columbia University, where she led parent-training groups, conducted diagnostic assessments, and received training in DBT.
Dr. Wigod has an interest in bridging the gap between research and clinical practice. Dr. Wigod’s research interests focus on increasing access to mental health services, dissemination and implementation of EBTs, and reducing the treatment gap. Dr. Wigod has presented her research at national psychology conferences. She is also an active member of multiple professional organizations, most notably the American Psychological Association (APA), the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies (ABCT), and the International Society for the Improvement and Teaching of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (ISITDBT).
